The non-profit Carolyn Stokes Day Nursery provides approximately 95 children at a time, ages 2 ½ to 5, with a warm, supportive and structured atmosphere in a country setting. We help each child develop and increase their academic and social skills in addition to gross, fine motor, and communications skills, while developing self-esteem.The Nursery employs the Creative Curriculum, 5th edition, in all its classrooms. This curriculum offers a wide range of activities which are all structured to promote skills and understanding that will help provide a solid foundation for later learning.
7:30 am - 5:30 pm
We are open Monday through Friday year-round, except for seven major holidays, three in-service days, and a two-day break over Thanksgiving. We also take a one-week break between Christmas and New Year’s Day.
We serve breakfast, a hot lunch and an afternoon snack, prepared on-site, which comply with all Department of Agriculture requirements. Medical or religious food restrictions are honored upon receipt of an explanation, on official letterhead, signed either by the child’s doctor or religious organization.
The Nursery has three Abbott classrooms and two Community classrooms. Children who live in the City of Trenton are eligible for Abbott, for which there is no fee. Children in the Community classrooms may be eligible for outside funding which includes the CBC Program (NJ), the Voucher Program (NJ) and the Apple Program (PA).
